Manufacturing Quality Engineer
DUTIES: BorgWarner Dixon LLC seeks a Manufacturing Quality Engineer in Dixon, Illinois. Note this position requires international and domestic travel, as needed, up to 25%.
Responsible for providing world class manufacturing and quality engineering technical support to the manufacturing areas and product launch activities that meet or exceed customer expectations; identifying and implementing improvements with manufacturing teams that reduce product cost, improve quality and maximize customer satisfaction; ensuring the maximum safety, quality, capability and utilization of manufacturing/processing equipment and processes; researching and implementing “Best Practice” manufacturing and processing methods; leading new product introductions and current product modifications to the manufacturing floor; reviewing and quoting processing and production equipment and tools; ensuring that effective documentation and control systems are developed, utilized, and maintained; leading the manufacturing team to define, justify, and coordinate the purchase and implementation of new equipment and processes; performing capacity analysis, track tooling and AR expenditures; assisting and/or leading specific elements in the APQP/NPDP process, including selections of special characteristics for product and build processes; leading in the design and build of manufacturing/assembly/processing equipment and processes; coordinating process diagnostics, maintenance, repairs, calibrations, and operating procedures; coordinating and managing outside contract projects; other duties as assigned. International and domestic travel, as needed, up to 25%.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related engineering field, and 36 months of experience in job offered or related engineering position.
Experience must include: experience with problem-solving methodologies, including 5W, 8Ds, A3, and Fish Bone; experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing; experience with Statistical Process Control; experience with automation design and application; experience with tool and fixture design; experience with the design and build of Manufacturing/assembly/processing equipment and processes; experience leading new product introduction and current product modification; experience defining, justifying the purchase and implementation of new equipment and processes; and experience performing capacity analysis. International and domestic travel, as needed, up to 25%.
