Description:  The City of Countryside is seeking an Office Assistant in the City Clerk’s Office. Under the direction of the Deputy City Clerk, this individual is responsible for greeting residents and visitors – both on the telephone and in person. The Office Assistant provides reliable and courteous service, and performs a variety of administrative, secretarial, and clerical activities that support the overall mission of the department.

Requirements:  Applicant must possess excellent customer service skills. Municipal government customer service preferred. Must have the ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks. Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:  assist the Deputy Clerk with correspondence and reports, process payments for City services, facilitate community programs, prepare packets for City meetings, keep accurate filing system, print permits, process incoming and outgoing mail, register voters. The nature of the work performed requires a professional manner in all dealings with the public and department staff. Successful candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and basic math skills. Required technical skills include:  proficiency in Microsoft Word, and a basic understanding of Excel, and PowerPoint.

Education and Experience Requirements:  This position requires a high school diploma and three years of clerical/administrative experience.

Starting Salary:  $48,356 plus excellent benefits.
