Part-Time Janitor

The City of Crest Hill has an opening for a permanent part-time janitor that would work no more than 20 hours per week during normal business hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The pay is $19/hour.

The work requires the ability to perform general cleaning and utilization of typical cleaning tools and machines related to building janitorial services. The work requires dusting, mopping, trash removal, vacuuming, and sanitizing various areas including bathrooms and lunchrooms. The work will be in various indoor facilities owned and operated by the city. The work will be generally under the supervision of the Building & Grounds Crew Leader, but work supervision will generally be based on the results of the cleaning efforts undertaken.

To be considered for this position you must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a background check, physical and drug/alcohol test. The incumbent in this position should possess a reasonable understanding of the English language to receive direction and communicate with the supervisor and others in the general office area of cleaning responsibility. Interested persons for this position must submit an application and complete a civil service test and interview to be ranked for placement on a hiring list that would be in use for hiring for up to 2 years or when the list is exhausted. In order to be placed on the hiring list candidates must have a minimum score of 70.
