Police Officer Job Application
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED). The Board reserves the right to determine the sufficiency of the high school diploma or its equivalent.
- United States citizen
- Valid driver’s license
- Must be 21 years of age and must not have reached your 35th birthday as of September 16, 2022
- Must be in excellent physical health and be of good moral character
- Candidates must have a valid POWER card issued by Joliet Junior College (JJC) at time of application. (Dated 9/16/2021- 9/16/2022)
- Candidates must contact JJC at 815-280-2674 to schedule the POWER test or go to www.jjc.edu/powertesting. The cost of testing is at candidate’s expense.
Required Documentation due by 2:00 p.m. (CST) on 9/16/2022 (no faxes/emails accepted):
- Online Application – available after download
- Consent and Release Form (3 pages) – available after download
- Criminal History Form (1 page) – available after download
- Copy of high school diploma or GED
- Copy of valid driver’s license
- Copy of birth record or authorization to work in U.S. – can include: U.S. county/state-issued birth record, U.S. passport, or naturalization papers
- Copy of valid POWER card from Joliet Junior College (dated 9/16/21 – 9/16/22)
- Copy of Military DD-214 or service discharge (if applicable)
Testing and Orientation Information:
The Board will promptly begin the testing process with a MANDATORY 5:30 p.m. orientation immediately preceding the written exam on October 11, 2022, at Ottawa City Hall, 301 West Madison Street, Ottawa, Illinois 61350. FAILURE TO ATTEND THIS ORIENTATION WILL PREVENT PROCEEDING FURTHER IN THE APPLICATION PROCESS.
The written test will be administered at Ottawa City Hall, 301 West Madison Street, Ottawa, Illinois on October 11, 2022, immediately following the orientation. Candidates that receive a score of 70% or greater will be scheduled for an oral interview on October 22, 2022. Ottawa is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
