The City of Plano, Illinois, is seeking a dynamic candidate for the role of Utility Locator.
In this entry Water - Utility Locator position, the employee is responsible for accurately identifying, marking, and documenting the location of the City of Plano's underground utilities. In addition to utility locating, this position also includes assisting other Water Department employees/Operators as needed. The Utility Locator ensures the safety of excavation projects, while performing essential fieldwork to maintain water infrastructure.
The Utility Locator is selected by the City Administrator and hired after the City Council confirms the recommendation at a public meeting. After hiring, the Utility Locator will be under the direction of the Superintendent of Water. The position is full-time (40 hours/week), paid an hourly wage of $24.76 to $28.71 plus all legally mandated benefits (such as Social Security and Workers' Compensation Insurance), and benefits defined as sick days, vacation days and holidays.
