APPRENTICE LINEMAN FOR ELECTRIC DISTRIBUTION

City of Princeton Job Notice

The Electric Distribution Department is issuing notice of a job opening for the position of Apprentice Lineman. This position is stationed at the Electric Distribution Shop at 1105 N. Euclid Avenue and reports to the Electric Distribution Foreman.

Summary of Duties: Observe all safety guidelines, methods, and personal protective equipment requirements; anticipate tool needs and kit raw materials for scheduled tasks; string wire and set power poles; install transformers; hand digging; perform powerline clearance; perform customer power connections and disconnections; perform basic problem-solving tasks in the field; and other duties as required by the Foreman and Electric Superintendent. Starting salary set by current union contract is $39.80/hr.

Must have a high school diploma or GED; must be able to lift loads in excess of 50 lbs.; must soon possess a CDL driver's license; must be able to work in extreme heat and cold conditions; must safely tolerate aerial work and exposure to secondary voltages. Preferred candidate will have experience with electric distribution safety, principles, tools, methods, hazards, teamwork, and problem solving. Certification in power line work from an accredited program is a plus.
