Salary: $29.39 - $35.73 Hourly
The Position
Under general direction of the Accounting Manager or Finance Director performs a variety of complex and difficult accounting and financial analysis work involving the development and maintenance of accounting systems affecting citywide and/or multi departments; supervises and directs the work of accounting staff; may perform duties included in the Accountant I class and performs other job related work as required.
The Accountant II is at the first-level of management and is the full supervisory class in the Accountant series. This class is distinguished from the Accountant I by its lead worker and advanced journey-level classification responsibilities and duties.
Minimum Qualifications
Any relevant combination of education and experience that would demonstrate the knowledge and skill outlined below is qualifying. A typical way of gaining the skills is:
Education: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Public or Business Administration or a closely related field including significant course work in the area of accounting.
Experience: At least three (3) years of recent, full-time increasingly responsible relevant accounting, controller or fiscal experience, including two (2) years of lead responsibility. Experience in governmental and/or fund accounting or a CPA or CPFO is highly desirable.
OR
Education: A High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience: At least seven (7) years of recent, full-time increasingly responsible relevant accounting, controller or fiscal experience, including two (2) years of lead responsibility. Experience in governmental and/or fund accounting or a CPA or CPFO is
highly desirable.
Licenses and/or Certificates Required:
Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required.
