Overview |
The Northern Illinois University (NIU) Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applications for the position of Office Support Specialist in the departmental main office. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is a vibrant research community with 15 faculty, 6 staff members, 3 post-doctoral fellows, 45 graduate students, and over 150 chemistry majors and minors. The department is part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the largest of NIU’s six undergraduate colleges.
The department of Chemistry is housed under the College of Liberal Arts and Science (CLAS). With 18 departments and 5 centers spanning the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences, CLAS is the largest of NIU’s six undergraduate colleges. By the nature of our mission, we touch virtually every new student to the university, regardless of their major, through the wide array of general education courses housed within our departments. |

Position Summary |
Provide office support to department personnel as assigned by the Office Manager in consultation with the Department Chair. Access and maintain department web presence and technology. Perform office duties in the absence of office staff.
