ELECTRICAL / MECHANICAL ASSEMBLER

Main Responsibilities:
- Assembles a group of parts into sub and final assemblies using specified and/or recognized assembly procedures.
- Makes necessary alignments, routine tests, and adjustments.
- Assembles, installs, and troubleshoots electric control systems.
- Must have a fundamental knowledge of basic electricity and electronics.
- Must be able to troubleshoot circuitry and make necessary diagnosis and repairs.
- Works from oral or written instructions, specifications, samples, blueprints, diagrams, bills of material, and schematics.
- Maintains accurate assembly information including time records, assembly problems, and modified blueprints / schematics / bills of material, ECO's, EON's, inspection check sheets and loose parts list.
- May use fixtures, gauges, scales, hand and power tools and other common tools used in the assembly of machine components.
- Must be able to handle large heavy parts as required. Must be able to work from a ladder and be capable of climbing into or onto machines while assembling.
- Communicates problems and information with supervisor and engineers.
- Requires a minimum of supervision.
- Will instruct and train other employees.
- Maintains clean and safe work area and equipment
- Performs other miscellaneous duties inherent to the job.
Requirements:
- Two years of documented education or formal training in basic electricity and electronics.
- Minimum of six months of documented experience building complex electrical assemblies, electrical maintenance/repair or satisfactory experience in related work.
- Minimum of six months of documented experience building complex assemblies, machine building, repair, or satisfactory experience in related work.
- Must have documented experience or training with soldering of PC boards and components and general welding.
- Must demonstrate the ability to read, understand and work with schematics, blueprints and modularized bills of material.
- Must demonstrate the ability to use fixtures, gauges, precision measuring equipment, and other tools commonly used in fitting, aligning, and assembling component parts into complete units.
- Must have or be willing to obtain tools commonly used by electrical controls and mechanical assemblers. Special tools and fixtures will be provided.
- Must demonstrate the ability to use DMM, amp meter, etc.
- Must be able to hande large, heavy parts as required. Must be able to work from a ladder and be capable of climbing into or onto machines while assembling.
- Must demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment, cooperating in a professional manner with other assemblers and all other employees.
- Must be able to perform minor rework to fit parts at assembly (cutting, drilling, tapping, filing, etc.)
- Removes, cleans, and disassembles electrical controls systems and parts from used machines and assemblies.
