Full-Time, Property Maintenance / Jr. Code Inspector
The United City of Yorkville is accepting applications for a full-time, Property Maintenance/Jr. Code Inspector in the building division of the Community Development Department. Under the direction of the Building Code Official, the successful applicant will be responsible for enforcing the City's property maintenance ordinance, in particular weed violations, zoning related inspections and provide clerical and administrative assistance in support of the property maintenance duties. The Property Maintenance/Jr. Code Inspector will also, on occasion, attend adjudication hearings for issued citations.
Applicants must possess a valid Illinois Driver's license and basic knowledge of ICC property maintenance standards for commercial, industrial and residential properties. Basic computer skills are a must. A high school diploma (or equivalent) is required with at least 1-2 years of previous inspection or experience in law enforcement, the building trades or college level courses in building construction is required. Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. All hires must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
Salary range for this position is $56,507 to $76,144 based on qualifications and experience. Starting salary range will be $57,783 to $62,059.
